Bosch Bird in a Blue Egg

The bird in the blue egg being carried by men on the left of the panel looks like a hoopoe. This ‘crowned’ bird stood for uncleanliness because it didn’t keep a clean nest. In the Middle Ages it also symbolised visiting prostitutes.
